Don’t have a lot of time to commit but like the idea of trying something new or developing your creative skills? Then this may be just the thing you’ve been looking for.
Jenny Miller and Kate Cox are about to open “The Dundee Art Collective”, a new multipurpose arts space in the historic Feiderleine Building at 181 Front Street, New Dundee. With workshops starting September 21st and the gallery opening September 24th, TDAC will offer a wide range of fun, relaxing workshops and take-home projects, alongside a gallery and maker’s market.
For those wanting to do their art at home, TDAC offers to-go projects. Each project is designed by a different local artist and comes neatly packed with everything you need to make it a success; something to proudly display at home or ready to gift for a special occasion.
In the gallery you’ll discover a carefully selected group of the region’s visual artists – painters, printmakers, fine art photography, sculpture and ceramics.
Touring the open-plan space, you will find Dundee Pottery – a ceramic school, offering classes on the wheel or hand-building, glazes mixed in-house and professional ceramicists ready to give you a tour or a demo.
Dundee Arts Maker Market (think a real life Etsy) is a delightful treasure trove celebrating the rich tradition of making, but with a contemporary twist. Local tea blends, their own signature coffee roast and of course, delicious locally crafted chocolates. Everything is handmade, high quality, locally sourced and completely ethical and is perfect for celebrating special occasions and the holiday season while supporting your local art community.
TDAC will be open Wednesday through Sunday 11am – 7pm and workshops and events are to run 7 days a week. You can check out TDAC on the web at dundee-arts.ca.
