Our farmers are amazing and I am thrilled to bring you some exciting news supporting them!
In today’s fast-paced environment, it is important to be well connected. That’s why Premier Ford, along with Ministers’ McNaughton, Scott, and Hardeman announced $315M for broadband expansion in rural and remote communities. This will help businesses and families with faster, more reliable and affordable broadband and cellular services.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is further supporting our farmers through the Lake Erie Agriculture Demonstrating Sustainability (LEADS) initiative. This will make operations more environmentally sustainable and boost water quality in the Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair watersheds.
The governments of Canada and Ontario are also supporting a project that will build and strengthen the capacity for the chicken industry to effectively and humanely manage chickens in emergency situations.
“Emergency situations are a reality on farms. It’s important to our government to make sure that if and when those emergencies happen, farmers have a system in place to humanely deal with the animals involved,” said Minister Ernie Hardeman, talking about the project.
Our government also wants to recognize the outstanding commitment to Ontario’s Local Food; I want to say congratulations to Oakridge Acres and Whistlebare Poultry Farm Ltd. Thank you for your outstanding commitment to quality!
I hope that you will reach out to our office, share your challenges and successes, and continue to let us know how we can support you.
