Pet Q&A with The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth

Q: Why does my dog eat grass?

A: Some dogs may eat grass when they’re feeling sick or to satisfy dietary needs, but often it is because they just like the taste! You typically don’t need to worry if you see him eating small amounts of grass, but keep an eye on it if he starts eating an increased amount. It could be a sign of an underlying illness. It’s also important to watch the use of things like pesticides or chemicals to treat your yard, as these could be hazardous to your pets.
